My Office, Again

I hauled out my laptop so I can roam around and take pictures like the pioneers did, before the invention of the digital camera.

This is my office from the opposite side as yesterday:

That is a full tower on the left there.

The cat was also back in her spot on the bookshelf this morning, so I got some closer shots.

Just out of frame on the left is heaven.

You may be able to recognize a few titles on my shelf, if you know their spines.

It's hard to get her to hold still when you're snapping a picture with a camera that looks like a cat toy.

Yes, you are so cute.

And yes, that is Boggle Deluxe, which is discontinued and was hard to track down. It's Boggle, which uses a 4x4 grid, and Big Boggle, which is 5x5: there is an L-shaped cover that you place on the board when playing 4x4. I haven't played that game in a while, but I was pretty into it for a time.

I plan to take a picture or two of the kitty in each of her favorite spots. Now she is on the bed, which qualifies, but I need to wait for my girlfriend to wake up so I can go turn on the lights and everything.

find the setting that compensates for incandescent light. or maybe be kind to Gaia and replace your energy sucking, carbon producing incandescent and halogen bulbs with tree hugging flourescent ones.

I am relying on xawtv's auto brightness controls. There are no camera settings as such.

1) You have your back to the door? I can't live like that. What if a cattle rustler breaks in? At the very least you need to have a table (ideally loaded with cards and poker chips) between you and the assailant.

2) ObRepeatedStoryFromCollegeAboutBoggle: I participated in a "Hunt" in school. One of the clues was hidden in a game of Boggle. The Huntmaster gave us a list of words and we had to reconstruct what the Boggle board had looked like. Once we did, we could read the clue off of it. We were very proud of ourselves for getting it.

I don't think our cat has ever been spry enough to jump six feet straight up.

She might use the chair for this one, not sure.

Before I cleared a space for her on the bookcase, she would stop here and look out the window.

She sort of climbs up more than jumps for this step.

It makes a lot more sense now. I knew cats could jump, but the single leap from the floor to the top of that bookshelf looked pretty unlikely.

We have a 16 year old cat that used to like to hang out on top of the refrigerator. She'd get up there in two jumps - floor --> countertop --> fridge. Since we stopped putting her food up there, she doesn't hang out there any more.

Her favorite activities now are 1) hanging out on a cushion next to the keyboard, 2) hanging out on the keyboard if somebody was impertinent enough to leave a sheet of paper on the cushion, 3) sleeping in the office chair, and 4) smacking around pit bulls.

in one jump. Regulation height fridge. They usually use the counter, though.

One of them used to jump to the top of the shower door every morning, which is triply tricky:

1) The height (5.5' or so)
2) The narrowness
3) The possibility of overshooting into the water

She avoids paper? I thought cats usually liked sitting on paper...though maybe that's only when it's over a hard surface. I could see how it would diminish the whole cushion experience.
