Manufacturing Turing complete trolls since 1976...

Urbi et Orbi

I'm quite surprised that so many of you can't grasp the brilliance of my The Plantm and have to wonder if maybe you're pulling my leg in an effort to get me all riled up and whatnot. The simple fact of the matter is that people with no kids (i.e., me) don't want to pay outrageous property taxes to put your kids through a nice school. If you want to copulate and spawn kids - fine - you deal with their education or move to a socialist country, okay?

It turns out that this week is "ride your bike to work" week. Wanna know how I know this? Cause I've run three of the little bastards off the road. If you can keep up with the flow of traffic then by all means, ride on the road, otherwise move to Europe or use the sidewewalk, that's what they're there for. The lot of you feckless bike-riding traffic-hazards should be given a sound spanking.

I accidentally watched the movie Unfaithful by that Viv Thomas bloke (I meant to download and watch The Best of the History Channel and must have clicked on the wrong link) and I just don't know. Sure - that guy makes the best lesbian movies, lots of hot "real girls" who spend lots of time making out and stuff, but I must be getting older cause I'd like to see a little more plot development. Maybe some more dialogue and character development too. I've got to think a guy could make a zillion dollars if he made hot lesbian movies with real storylines. Anyways - I give it 8324/10000 cause that Peaches chick is tres smokin hot. In fact I think it's safe to say that the hottest lesbians come from Budapest.

How the hell does Rudolph Goolani get people to give him all sorts of money? Seriously, other than the fact that he was the mayor of NYC when the Iraqii's attacked our twin towers what the hell does he have to offer as a leader? What sort of qualifications does he have? Am I crazy or was the guy a crappy mayor? Wasn't he also the guy who was committing adultery while he was Mayor? Doesn't he stand for public funding of killing unborn babies??? How the hell is he getting funded from the right given he stands for things they detest? Gah.

I'm on the fence wrt lunch today. Part of me wants to go to the China House Take Away Emporium and order up some clappy deep flied lice arong with some chicken und bloccori. The other part of me wants to go to Subway to get a nice healthy turkey sub loaded with veggies and whatnot. Yin/Yang. Evil/Good. I just don't know.

You're not taking The Plan far enough by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #1 Thu May 17, 2007 at 10:39:46 AM EST
it seems counterintuitive, but rents in the places you're looking can be high. If buy one of those places, fix it up, you can rent it for a heck of a lot more than you're paying for the mortgage.

I'd recommend picking a block with a few houses for sale, so you can stay close and manage the properties. I'd also recommend picking up hardware at the same places that supply the prisons, you know, steel toilets and sinks and such, so they don't break under abuse.

IIRC, Trump started the same way.

I could buy a couple blocks up and build a giant fence around them and turn them into my own Green Zone!

That idea may have some real potential.

city property, near all sorts of necessary services and stores, is going to become a lot more valuable, you can become a robber baron landlord of the post-petroleum era.

scares my chickens

In the 70's there was a movement towards porn with actual plots, writing, and acting. The VCR killed that movement. Dead, in the ground, with a stake through its heart. It seems that most people just want to look at nakedness without distraction and, once they could do so in their own homes, they did.

Chicken ~y~ bloccori Bob. It's the right Thing to do.

I'm sure a certain segment only like to watch porn movies in 5 minute portions  - but I'm certain there is a a whole different market segment, like say refined intelligent people of the aughts, or adult couples, who would enjoy watching a real movie that happens to have some hot lesbian scenes in it.

I may start asking around to see if I can get an exploratory group together to investigate this.

What I heard by wumpus (2.00 / 0) #13 Thu May 17, 2007 at 07:38:39 PM EST
was that there were two schools of porn (in the US). The Californian porn took startlets and had them just get it on. New York porn took unemployed theater types and had them make movies. I once described such a flick as having corregated cardboard charecters.

rudy... by sasquatchan (2.00 / 0) #8 Thu May 17, 2007 at 12:34:25 PM EST
washpo covered it yesterday.. Hints that he twisted arms (via the guy who dropped outta the homeland security job because he was a corfrupt jerk, and rudy partner..) and because he's got face time. I can't see him winning the repub nomination, but who knows..

As for bad school districts -- one supreme court decision and that changes rapidly. Look at NH and VT, and local property taxes used for schools, and how poorer districts sued for equality, blah blah blah fallout etc.

It's all whack by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #9 Thu May 17, 2007 at 01:33:21 PM EST
Property tax should not be used to fund schools. I mean, who came up with that idea???

I'll tell you my biggest problem with it - the teachers get these union contracts that guarantee them a raise every year. It doesn't matter if the area is experiencing high unemployment and record breaking rate for home foreclosures, the teachers get their raises. Then the school Sup (who makes a healthy 6 figure salary) goes on NPR and cries about how broke the schools are and how they need to pass some new school levy every 6 months. People are losing their homes cause they can't pay the taxes and mortgage but they should vote for  a levy so the teachers can get their guaranteed raises, Yeah whatever.

Schools should be funded with a progressive state income tax and bake sales, that's the only fair way to do it.

schools should be funded by the students by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #11 Thu May 17, 2007 at 02:03:53 PM EST
schools should be promised a percentage of each student's future earnings, which they divvy up to the teachers. Lots of incentive for the teachers to teach their students well then.

There would also be incentive for the teachers to get the dumb kids and the kids from poor families kicked out of their class, and to try and snag the smart kids and the kids with rich parents.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean we can all agree that baked goods are the only true Anti-Christ, right?
